Men of the World: 13th-16th June 2012
It is now several years since we presented Godber's Up'n'Under and Salt of the Earth so this is a welcome return to the particular style that is the hallmark of a John Godber play. This has been summed up as "honest storytelling about working people delivered in a cleverly theatrical, entertaining and sometimes moving context".
Three long suffering drivers recall memorable coach journeys, especially one particular trip down the Rhine Valley. We meet an assortment of characters, shaped by their roots in the mining area of south Yorkshire. They give us their forthright opinions, reveal their little foibles, and offer gems of mature wisdom.
Men of the World is a hilarious, poignant and touching play, by one of the nation's leading comedy playwrights.
